The journey from Nayarit, Mexico, to Oklahoma, and eventually to Chicago has been anything but linear. Life has been full of twists, resilience, and growth. Growing up navigating the healthcare with my family, I saw how culture and language work to shape trust towards medicine, and I knew I wanted to be a part of the change. As a QuestBridge Scholar I was given the chance to learn and grow at the University of Chicago. I majored in Neuroscience immersed myself in the complex, beautiful ways the brain works. As a graduate student, I’ve learned that being book-smart means nothing if you can’t speak your truth and uplift others along the way. Through the science communications concentration in my master's program, I've developed the tools to make my writings and talks contagious and memorable. I aim to use all the knowledge I accumulated to help the lives around me, one step at a time.
